How pathetic does an Arizonian sound when they say they’ve never been to the Grand Canyon? Thankfully I can’t say I’ve never been there but I might as well be. I had only there once for a brief 10 minutes on a very cold windy day and had no pictures to prove my visit. In my world, it only counts if you have pictures. (I blame Instagram) jk 😉
Anyway, being a long weekend and everybody being out of town, I convinced my parents to drive out there for the day. Call me pathetic again, I initiated a road trip with my parents as opposed to some Fourth of July pool party with friends and a crowd. Truth is, I’m all about getting things done, new experiences, and crossing off new thing off my bucket list. This I blame on my mid 20s! Pool parties have several crossings off my list for sure. Been there done that!
I must talk about the astonishing mind-blowing view of the Grand Canyon. It is insane! Never been afraid of heights but I certainly know the feeling now. As soon as I came close to the edge of the rail where you can see all the way down, my brain instantly became foggy and light headed… but in a good way. The colors of the landscape are unreal! Like a painting in the background or a sunset view a any hour.
Knowing my parents aren’t crazy hikers or anything I knew I’d be okay to wear jeans or anything other than work out clothes. Still, I opted to be comfortable. Stylish, but comfortable nonetheless. As I mentioned before, white sneakers are kind of a key item in anyone’s closet right now so I wore my Adidas superstar with comfy stretch black skinnies. I wanted to play with the colors of nature so I decided to wear something bright enough yet subtle so I wore my new mustard colored blouse. Gotta think of the pictures right? Priorities!
And as always at the end of putting together an outfit, I turn to accessories and create my own twist. I like to keep sleeveless white collared shirts around for layering. Just gives any sweater, dresses or blouses an extra touch of class, find a great classic here. I also reached out for another must have, the denim shirt to wear on or off. Gotta love that shirts around your waist are back in trend, just so convenient! Keeping in mind we’d be outdoors in July, I had to bring a hat and of course, some sunnies. Protect your skin from the sun, ALWAYS!
And just an FYI, this cap isn’t just for looks. I really am an LA Dodgers fan and follow baseball, at least sometimes. Being that it’s the fourth of July weekend I thought I’d bring my American style up a notch with baseball hats and ice cream cones. So how’s this for an American holiday weekend? Still pathetic?
