“I love to pack!”… Said no one ever. Let’s face it, packing is hardly fun and never easy. Over the years of traveling, whether it be for business or pleasure, I’ve learned a few tips and tricks when it comes to packing efficiently. So when my sister announced she was getting married this year and decided to do it in Vegas I knew packing was going to be CRUCIAL.

First things first, you need to know the events, activities, climate and if there are dress codes. In this instance I knew I needed a bigger suitcase since I’d be traveling with gowns, winter coats, high heels and all the wedding material a good sister must be prepared for. (bachelorette props and games, camera equipment etc)

The Montecito suitcases have 4 360° dual spinner wheels, it’s soooo nice to not have to drag your suitcase on two wheels.

Take pictures of your outfits

You would think I’m an over packer but in reality I am an over planner. Seriously hard core over planner! I typically start a couple of days in advance and pull out full outfits head to toe. I then take pictures so I know exactly how I planned to wear them and not forget any accessories. Duh!

Have your go to packing list

For longer international trips I go as far as to create a spreadsheet of the activities we have planned and coordinate the outfits appropriately. I know how this sounds but I swear it keeps me from overpacking and staying organized. Now, I’m not advising you to do this too but I will say having a list to reference every time saves you so much time and headaches.

Electronics go in your carry on

Always pack your electronic devices in your carry on for 3 reasons.

1. They’re fragile and valuable. It makes me nervous to see my bag getting tossed around but I gotta say the Montecito hard case makes a world of difference in protecting my items.

Montecito Carry On Suitcase also has TSA lock to keep your valuables safe at all times.

 2. If you’re flying, lithium batteries are obviously prohibited in your checked luggage. I’ve already had an instance where the battery exploded and it was impossible to open the item back up. Learned from my mistakes.

The Montecito Carry on has a built in USB port by the handle. The port connects to an external charger that sits in a designated pocket inside the suitcase, so you can easily plug your phone anywhere.

3. I most likely want to have my laptop &  headphones handy at the airport, on my flight, or even on my ride home. I was editing wedding photos as I awaited my flight and had them ready by the time I landed. Productivity 101!

What to bring with and on you

Aside from electronics, here are a few things I always bring on me or in my carry on. Toothbrush, socks, and a lightweight scarf no matter where I’m going or what time of year it is. I hate not having a toothbrush handy when traveling especially if you’re ever stuck in a place where you can’t access your luggage. Socks are a must! There is nothing grosser than walking through TSA barefoot. And lastly scarves are my secret weapon. First off planes are so cold so I can easily use them as a blanket without having to worry about the bulk. They have also saved me from bad odors, just spray some of your favorite scent and cover your nose if there’s a smelly neighbor next to you on the flight. Plus they had a chic comfy look.
