By now, you might have seen blouses with cross over sleeves designs. And if you haven’t, trust you’ll be seeing this new trend just about everywhere by next season and the next. Which drew me to my own DIY project. In this case, I thought a men’s shirt would be great to make into a flattering dress. I used a striped button down shirt form Tommy Hilfiger for a more neutral or gender blend statement.

First step, wear the shirt underneath your arms, collar folded back.

Adjust the buttons and sides seams to your body.

Tie the sleeves at the front like you would if you were wearing a shirt aournd your waist. You know, like the 90s.

And voila! You have yourself a shirt dress. But not your typical baggy next day “I borrowed my boyfriends shirt” look. It’s the shirt dress with a twist and you’ve just saved yourself some $$ from buying a the ready to wear trend.

Do this with your own button down shirts and make it into a blouse over wide leg pants or culottes! you’ll definitely be seeing me in these more often.
